What is it?

The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies (CACS) connects people in the Homer area with the outdoors. Through various events throughout the summer and winter and the Wynn Nature Center, CACS invites everyone to take part in the open spaces, as well as the educational programs. They offer school programs, both day and overnight trips.

During the summer, CACS offers internships to youth over the age of 14. “The purpose of this internship program is to provide opportunities for practical experiences to high school age youth at facilities operated by the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studiesthe Wynn Nature, Peterson Bay Field Station, and the CACS Yurt on the Spit. Learning opportunities at these facilities have been designed to help you gain skills in the areas of nature interpretation and teaching, public relations, research and monitoring and other behind the scene duties like trail maintenance and program preparation.”
